This impressive 3,000+ square foot home is elegant in its simplicity and high-style in its design. It was originally constructed (circa 1954) for Mr. & Mrs. Cecil C. Hutchens by the iconic builder Robert C. Higgins (of Sunmor fame) from architectural plans by Donald Wexler & Rick Harrison.
During the recently completed and extensive remodel, the current owners honored the architectural integrity of the property - while creating a space that is very next-century. They preserved the slump stone walls, floor to ceiling walls of glass, concrete floors, kidney shaped pool and the luxurious feel of a mini-estate made for entertaining. THE LIVING SPACES
This home has been carefully planned for entertaining, relaxing and spending quality time with your travel companions. The impressive open floor plan provides an upscale yet comfortable space for your entire group to spread out in style. The oversized kitchen is open to the dining area with its modern farmhouse table that accommodates up to 10-12 guests. The adjacent living room has ample seating, a flat screen television, and a two-sided fireplace. Both the front and back of the common areas feature walls of glass - blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living in true Palm Springs style.
THE BACKYARD
This property captures the magic of Southern California glamour. While the entire home is gorgeous - the outdoors are truly its crowning jewel. Enjoy majestic mountain views over the slump stone privacy walls, a fabulous saltwater pool with tanning deck (great for sunning or a play space for little ones), a hot tub, a firepit lounge, barbecue and a round table for alfresco dining. You’ll find poolside chaise lounges, hammock, bocce ball, ping pong, and badminton! Plus lots of private courtyards - perfect for curling up with a good book or just experiencing some quiet downtime alone.
Pool Heating is included in the rental cost, for bookings that are less than 29 nights, from October 15th through April 30th. From May 1st through October 14th, pool heating can be purchased for an additional $50/day.
THE SLEEPING QUARTERS
Like an upscale boutique hotel, all four sleeping quarters have been beautifully decorated and feature hospitality-quality mattresses. There are two master bedrooms and three additional guest rooms. The first master has a king bed, a flat screen television, a full bath, a walk in closet and direct pool access. The second master is a true suite with its sitting area, flat screen television, king bed, double closet, and full bath with both a shower and tub, and direct pool access. Bedrooms three and four share a common bath, have king-sized beds, ample storage and flat screen televisions. The home has a separate powder room off the living areas.
LOCATION
The home is nestled on a beautiful parcel in Deepwell Estates, a neighborhood forever associated with the Hollywood legends who have lived here “behind the gates”. Today, Deepwell Estates continues its legacy as one of our most sought after neighborhoods. Located in walking distance to some of South Palm Springs' newest hot spots, art galleries, mid-century consignment stores and estate sale shops, grocery stores, sandwich shops, burger joints, liquor stores and other neighborhood conveniences.
